「平和という多面的な概念には、戦争からの解放だけでなく、貧困からの解放も含まれなければならない」- 緒方 貞子、1992年FCCJ報道記者会見にて。ヒストリーチャンネルとの今回のコラボレーションにおいて、私たちは伝説的な人物、緒方貞子氏を特集できる事を誇りに思います。1992年、国連難民高等弁務官として10年に及ぶ任務期間、国連機関を導き始めまだ1年足らずの時点で、緒方氏はすでに世界の難民への人道的な具体的な方策に大きな変革をもたらし始めていました。その後、そのたぐい稀なる功績は国際協力機構(JICA)においても受け継がれ、緒方貞子の名は歴史書に深く刻まれる事となりました。
