The latest event in the FCCJ Japanese Traditional Culture Evening Series features a deeper look into the artistic genius of Hokusai, Japan`s most famous ukiyo painter in the 18th century. His art has grown to new levels of international popularity linked to Japan’s ever-growing manga market.
This event will feature Mitsuru Uragami of Uragami Sōkyūdō, the world's foremost collector of Hokusai manga, and a concert by biwa player Takahisa Suda.
It will bring tradition and modernity together. Presenters will focus on the deeper value of Hokusai as the originator by illustrating and exposing the movement of his art: walking, dancing, playing, working, racing, eating, drawing, playing, flying … the astonishing motion in Hokusai manga! Other speakers include Prof. Yoshihisa Endo (aka Dr. Hokusai), chairman of the International Hokusai Academic Conference Board; Hiromi Yasui, representative director of the International Hokusai Club, and Yoko Kamiyabu, a Japanese cultural event producer.
A light buffet of chef’s delicacies and one drink is included in the ticket price of 4,400 yen for FCCJ members and 6,600 yen for non-members.

FCCJ日本文化シリーズでは、18世紀日本を代表する浮世絵師・葛飾北斎の芸術的天才性を深く探求します。
彼の芸術は、成長を続ける日本のマンガ市場との結びつきにより、国際的な人気が新たな高みに達しています。
今回は、世界有数の北斎漫画収集家であり、昨年大好評を博した「ぜんぶ、北斎のしわざでした。」展を全面協力した浦上蒼穹堂 浦上 満氏を招き、遠藤 欽久氏（ペンネーム：藤ひさし）日本美術アカデミー 国際北斎学会代表理事、安井 ひろみ氏 INTERNATIONAL HOKUSAI CLUB 代表理事、上籔 洋子氏 日本文化イベントプロデューサー、国際北斎学会 広報そして琵琶奏者の須田 隆久氏らを迎えて北斎を深堀していきましょう。
