The Kishida Vision and the LDP Presidential Race

Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga's sudden announcement that he will not seek re-election as ruling Liberal Democratic Party President in the party's September 29th election has thrown the political world into confusion. Several candidates are expected to compete in one of the most contentious LDP presidential contests seen in years when it kicks off on September 17th. One is Fumio Kishida, who lost to Suga in last year's presidential race. He is considered a front runner, and was the first to formally declare his interest. As a former Foreign Minister and Defense Minister, and former chair of the LDP's powerful policy research council, Kishida is a party insider with extensive experience in foreign affairs, and is rising in media polls on who should be the next prime minister. Join FCCJ as he speaks about his vision for Japan if elected.
