The Liberal Democratic Party's presidential election takes place on September 27th with what is likely to be the largest field of candidates in the party's history. One candidate from Kanagawa Prefecture who has spoken previously at the Club is current Minister for Digital Transformation Taro Kono. Time Magazine dubbed him "Japan's Most Popular Politician," and he is again running for LDP president after previously serving during the COVID-19 pandemic as Japan's Vaccine Tsar, and earlier as Foreign and Defense Minister. Please join this FCCJ event as Minister Kono outlines his policy platform as well as digital and analogue strategies to win support from his fellow LDP members.
