Sakana AI: Navigating Japan's AI Landscape

Despite its global high-tech reputation, Japan has struggled to keep pace with developments in artificial intelligence (AI), a technology predicted to become a $4.8 trillion market by 2033. Aiming to garner a share of that business is Tokyo-based startup Sakana AI. Founded in 2023 by former Google researchers, Sakana AI is backed by investors such as Nvidia and Japanese high-tech stalwarts NEC and Fujitsu. Last August, the company launched AI Scientist, claimed to be the first system to automate scientific discovery.

President's Message

Dear Membership:

I hope your Golden Week is going well, and the holidays have been fruitful. We are now on special hours of Club operation, but I’m happy to share that the number of membership applications is rising, which is a tribute to our great events and committees that were well represented at the March General Membership Meeting. This Board of Directors has less than two months left in our tenure before the next election, but there is still much to do and opportunities for all. I hope many of you will consider running for office and contributing to the Club in a leadership role when elections are held in June.
