PRESS CONFERENCE
Nobuyuki Baba, Representative, Japan Innovation Party
14:00-15:00 Thursday, October 24, 2024
The speech and Q & A will be in Japanese with English interpretation
The Osaka/Kansai-centered Japan Innovation Party heads into the Oct. 27th election as Japan's second-largest opposition party. However, it finds itself in an usual position. Newly-elected Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan leader Yoshihiko Noda has indicated he's open to having the JIP in a CDP-led coalition if it means securing enough seats to form a majority in the Lower House, although the two parties are competing against each other in many districts. At the same time, many JIP policies are identical to the ruling Liberal Democratic Party and its leader, Nobuyuki Baba, has hinted at cooperating with the LDP if the ruling party loses its majority. What is JIP's goal for the election and what direction will it take afterwards? Please join us at the FCCJ as Nobuyuki Baba explains.
