FCCJ ELECTION NOTICE TO ALL MEMBERS

Dear Members,
To prepare for the FCCJ Board of Directors election at the Annual General Membership Meeting in June, I've appointed an Election Committee comprising the following members:

* Miho Ouyou
The committee supervises the election, ensures Club rules are followed, answers questions and counts votes.
The Election Committee will be sending out notices to inform all members of election procedures, deadlines and dates. Please watch for this in your inbox.
In addition, I encourage all members to consider running for office or serving on a Committee under the next Board of Directors.

2026 Election Nomination Process
Dear Regular Members,
This notice is as an official invitation to Regular members of the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan to stand for election to serve as Directors on the Club's Board of Directors. This is the thirteenth election under the Club's status as a Koeki Shadan Hojin organization. Procedures are laid out as below:
A Regular member wishing to nominate herself/himself should send an e-mail with name, affiliation, and current job title to the Election Committee (gmm2026@fccj.or.jp) stating their intention to run for election to the Board no later than noon on Wednesday, June 3rd.
Any member running has to have been a member of the Club for at least one year. Per our bylaws (10-09), candidates must "show proof of their employment or journalism work."
Nominees must include the names of two Regular members who support their nomination. The two Regular members are also required to separately e-mail the Election Committee confirming their support of the candidate.
Regular members are allocated six Director positions on the Board. In addition, Associate and Professional Associate members are allocated three Director positions and one Kanji position.
Any tie in votes will be decided by cumulative length of time of Club membership. For example, in the event of a tie between a person with 10 years of cumulative membership and a member with 11 years of cumulative membership, the latter wins.
Beside the six Director positions, a further two Board positions will be assigned to the two Regular members in the election who come in at seventh and eighth place in number of votes. These two members will act as alternate Directors to replace Directors who cannot complete their term(s) of office.
The term of office for a Director is one (1) year. Under Koeki Shadan Hojin status, those elected will be appointed "Directors" on the Board, not as "Officers".
The Directors shall select the Club's President and Vice President(s) from among the Regular member Directors on the Board.
As with previous elections, nominees are encouraged to write a platform statement. The statement is limited to one (1) A4 page, one side only, and should be sent to the Election Committee at the e-mail given above. The Election Committee will arrange for the statements to be posted on the FCCJ website, displayed on FCCJ premises and sent out to members.

Dear FCCJ Associate & Professional Associate Members:
Please consider nominating yourself and/or other Associate and Professional Associate members to run for the Board of Directors.
Becoming a board member provides the honor to meet and work with other engaged Directors and support the FCCJ. The Club is enjoying a revival amid major plans for transformation and growth. We need your help to ensure we succeed.
The election process for a new FCCJ Board will begin soon. A General Membership Meeting (GMM) will be held on June 25, when we'll confirm and announce results, as well as appoint new directors and kanji.
The Board includes three directors and one kanji from among Associate and Professional Associate members.
Your participation in the election process and possibly on the FCCJ Board is very important, because our management and committees can benefit from your skills and expertise. The term runs from July 2026 until June 2027 for directors and from July 2026 until June 2028 for kanji.
The Associate Members' Liaison Committee will send more details on the nomination process soon.

This year, Associate and Professional Associate members are invited to stand for election as FCCJ Directors (3 positions) and Kanji (1 position).
Those wishing to put themselves forward should complete the attached nomination form in English with supporting signatures from two Associate or Professional Associate members (nominator and seconder), and submit it to a member of staff in the Club office on the 6th floor during working hours, or scan or take a photo and send it by email to gmm2026@fccj.or.jp or fax it to 03-3201-0677. Nominators and seconders can send forms with the candidate’s name and their signature separately, if necessary, in view of the difficulty of meeting face-to-face in the current circumstances.
The closing date for nominations is noon on Wednesday, June 3.
Full information including a one-page candidate statement and photo for circulation to members must be received by then.
Candidates must have been an FCCJ member for at least two years by the date of nomination and must be in good financial standing with the Club. They should also demonstrate that they have both relevant professional skills (such as management, finance and human resources matters) and sufficient time to devote to the task of serving on the FCCJ Board.
Please note that the term of office for Director is one year and for Kanji is two years.
This year there will be no Associates Nomination Ballot. At least four candidates for director and two candidates for kanji will go straight through to the formal Election process where only Regular members have votes. Further details about the process will be provided in due course.

FCCJプロフェッショナル準会員及び準会員の皆様、
理事会への立候補をご検討ください。
理事に就任することは、熱意あふれる他の理事の方々と出会い、共に活動し、FCCJを支えるという光栄な機会となります。当クラブは現在、変革と成長に向けた大規模な計画のもと、新たな活気を取り戻しつつあります。この取り組みを成功させるためには、皆様のご協力が必要です。
FCCJ新理事の選挙が間もなく始まります。6月25日に会員年次総会（AGM）を開催し、その結果を発表するとともに、新理事を選任します。
理事会には、準会員およびプロフェッショナル準会員の中から3名の理事及び1名の監事が選出されます。
選挙へのご参加、そしてFCCJ理事会へのご参画は、皆様のスキルや専門知識が当協会の運営や各委員会活動にとって大いに役立つため、非常に重要です。
理事の任期は2026年7月から2027年6月まで、監事の任期は2026年7月から2028年6月までとなります。

今年の理事会選挙では、準会員理事候補者が3名及び監事候補者が1名選出されます。
立候補を希望される方は、添付されている所定候補者届出書に英語で記入し、推薦者nominatorと支持者seconder各1名の署名を添えて、準会員選挙管理委員会または6階事務局営業時間中に事務局担当スタッフまでにご提出下さい。あるいは届出書をスキャンしてEメールで gmm2026@fccj.or.jpまたはFax（03-3201-0677）までお送り下さる方法でも結構です。現在、立候補者は対面にて推薦者と支持者の署名をもらうことが難しい状況下ですので、必要であれば推薦者と支持者が候補者のお名前とサインをした用紙を別途お送りいただくことも可能です。
立候補届け出の締め切り日は、6月3日（水）の正午となります。会員宛てに回覧するため、顔写真付きA4 サイズ1ページに必要な情報を織り込んだ声明文を同時にお送り下さい。
なお、立候補者の条件としては、立候補届け出当日までに少なくとも2年間FCCJの会員であり、各立候補者は当協会会員として、ご自身の財務状況が良好である事が要求されます。また、FCCJの理事や監事の任務に専念するに十分な専門的スキル（経営管理、財務管理、人事管理等）と、理事としての職務に十分な時間を持てる事を証明していただく必要もあります。
FCCJ理事職の任期は1年間、監事職の任期は2年間となっています。
今年は諸事情を鑑み、準会員選挙管理委員会における投票はございません。そのため以上の要件を満たす、少なくとも4人の理事候補者及び2人の監事候補者は、そのまま当協会の正会員が投票する正式な選挙手続きに進みます。手続きに関する詳細は、追ってご連絡いたします。
