Where goes the mighty dollar there too goes the fate of the yen, the renminbi, the euro and other leading currencies. Could "King Dollar" be toppled between now and the US presidential election in November, not by being usurped by any other pretender" currency but by events in the US itself?

The world’s biggest economy is still humming along but confidence in the US political system and leadership has taken a knock recently, while faith and trust in the greenback could suffer collateral damage if pre-election turmoil continues.

With the help of leading international experts, the latest in the series of FCCJ Deep Dive events will cast its net wide over the health of the global financial system in the run up to the presidential election.

Questions they will examine include whether interest rates and exchange rates along with currency and other markets - bond markets especially but also stock markets - are likely to be volatile, and what might destabilise financial institutions in a period of potential turbulence.
