FCCJ Run-off Election Voting Begins July 5
Extraordinary General Meeting
6:30pm, Tuesday, July 15, 2025
Dear Regular Members:
Six Associate members have accepted nominations and met the qualifications to run for three open board seats in this runoff election. Please vote so that we can seat a full board and continue working on important club business as soon as possible.
Voting is easy and very important for the Club. The rules for a valid runoff election require at least one third of Regular members to cast ballots. Voting online is easy and efficient. There are further details below, while paper ballots must be submitted before midnight July 14, 2025, or you can vote in person immediately prior to the opening of the July 15 Extraordinary General Meeting. All Members are welcome at the EGM.
The results will be announced at the July 15 meeting at the Club, which will also be on Zoom. A complimentary drink will be served, doors open at 6:30pm, and the meeting starts at 7:00pm.
The meeting agenda:
(1) In person voting for those who haven’t voted online, sent in ballots, or assigned a proxy.
(2) Announcement of results.
VOTING ONLINE:
On July 5 you will receive an email with the subject line "Vote now: FCCJ run-off election July 15" from electionbuddy.com. This email will contain a link to your own personal ballot page, which will list the candidates. Make your choices, click Submit, and you're done. You may also attend the Extraordinary General Meeting to learn the results first-hand. There are six candidates for three Associate member seats. Please vote for as many as you like. The top three will fill the open seats as long as each draws more than 50% of voters.
Online is the quickest and easiest way to vote and helpful for the Election Committee, because it allows them to know when we have reached a quorum.
Six board members and a Regular-member kanji were elected in voting held last month. We are holding this runoff election because the Associate candidates did not exceed the 50% mark, so we were not able to form a full board. Thus, it is especially important that you cast votes in this runoff so that we can form a full board and proceed in a timely manner with the club’s business.
The board for the 2025-26 term will consist of six directors from Regular membership, and three directors from Professional Associate/Associate members. There will also be one kanji that is a Regular Member and one that is a Professional Associate or Associate Member.
Best regards,
Dan Sloan
President, FCCJ
