We look forward to welcoming you for an enjoyable afternoon of art, stories, and conversation with one of Japan’s most celebrated outdoor illustrators. 
The Tokushima native built a successful career creating illustrations for advertising campaigns, posters, magazines, calendars, record jackets, and product packaging. 
A turning point came when he discovered the American back-to-nature movement of backpacking, fly-fishing, and ecology. As he puts it, "The scales fell from my eyes when I found the beauty of fish scales." 
Inspired by the natural world, he shifted his focus in the 1980s toward a lifestyle he describes as "half artist, half fisherman," expanding his work into outdoor, sports, and nature publications. Seeking to combine his profession and his passion for the outdoors, Tsugaoka undertook large-scale mural projects including the Kuccharo Prince Hotel in Hokkaido and the Sengokubara Prince Hotel in Hakone. 
Since the 2000s, Tsugaoka has balanced his artistic pursuits with fishing expeditions to Alaska and Mongolia. His work explores fish, wild birds, dogs and cats, wildlife, nature, and above all, people.  
His many honors include the Grand Prize at the Nikkei Advertising Awards, as well as awards from the Yomiuri Advertising Awards and the Asahi Advertising Awards.

つがおか一孝氏を囲む会 （7月はフォーマルな展示会レセプションはございません）

*土曜日は、二重橋スクエア地下1階 バー「Rôti」前のエレベーターから5階にお上がりください。

四国・徳島県生まれの つがおか一孝 は、25歳で独立し、広告関係のイラストを中心に、ポスター、雑誌、カレンダー、レコードジャケットからパッケージ・イラストまで幅広く制作。
アメリカの若者文化「自然回帰の運動」（バックパッキングとフライ・フィッシング、そしてエコロジー）に出会い、「魚のうろこの美しさに、目からうろこが落ちたようだ」 と、 80年代からは半農半漁ならぬ、水辺での半画半漁の生活を目指し、仕事をアウトドア及びスポーツ誌を中心とした出版分野へと拡大しました。
アウトドアのメッカで趣味と仕事の両立を図ろうと、北海道「屈斜路プリンスホテル」や箱根「仙石原プリンスホテル」の壁画制作を引き受け、それは「目標に立ちはだかる壁であった」と語りつつも、2022年「妙高高原ビジターセンター」（環境省）の壁面展示画を完成。
2000年に入り、アラスカ、モンゴルでの釣りにハマり、住まいを鎌倉、葉山へと移し、旅行雑誌「じゃらん」をはじめ、ゴルフ、フィッシング、アウトドア系の雑誌にイラストやコラムを掲載。
魚、野鳥、犬・猫、野生動物、自然、そして「人間」をテーマに、半画半漁」を目指している。2013年からは、葉山を盛り上げようと「一色海岸アート」展に参加、現在はその代表をつとめている。
読売広告大賞、朝日広告賞、及び日経広告賞・最優秀賞など数々の賞を受賞した。
