Developing next-generation vaccines for COVID-19 and beyond

Japan is dependent on imported vaccines for its nascent COVID-19 inoculation campaign, and there is only one domestically developed alternative in late-stage trials. In the rest of the world there are dozens of COVID-19 vaccines under development. VLP Therapeutics is among a small cadre of companies looking to change that, if not for the current pandemic then for the next. The small biotech, with offices in the United States and western Japan, has won Japanese government grants to develop a new COVID-19 vaccine, a project that was joined by Fujifilm Ltd. last fall.

Our speakers will talk about what sets their technology and vaccine apart, the biotech ecosystem in Japan, and what they think the government should do to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and prepare for future viral threats.
