H.E. Mr. Sanjay Kumar Verma,
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Japan

14:00-15:00 Tuesday, June 15, 2021
The speech and Q & A will be in English.

How does India see the Indo-Pacific and relations with Japan
India, the second most populous country and a nuclear and economic power, has gained importance with strategy makers in Japan and the United States recently. It is part of the Indo-Pacific belt that is used to encompass an arc that seems to contain China.

What India's role is in this setting as well as New Delhi's perception is uncertain.

In addition, India has found itself in the front lines in the fight against COVID-19 as its infection and death rates skyrocketed.

Japan has been on good terms with India in various fields and bilateral relations gained momentum with the latest move by Japan to cement a new alliance, which includes the US and Australia, as well as possible new partners.

To shed more light on these issues, Indian Ambassador to Japan, H.E. Mr. Sanjay Kumar Verma will brief FCCJ members on how India sees its future relations with Japan, and its plans regarding the Tokyo Olympics.
