August 6th marks 79 years since of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. To mark the anniversary, Hiroshima Prefecture will publish a new document titled "Hiroshima Watch."

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russia has openly threatened to use nuclear weapons, and the risk of using nuclear weapons has become a reality as Russia has indicated that it will resume nuclear testing. In addition, growing concerns about security have led other countries to increase reliance on nuclear deterrence.

"Hiroshima Watch" is aimed at checking whether countries are fulfilling their obligations related to nuclear risk reduction and nuclear disarmament.

Hiroshima Prefecture Gov. Hidehiko Yuzaki, former Australian Foreign Minister Gareth Evans and Kiichi Fujiwara of Juntendo University will speak at the FCCJ to discuss the publication of the document.
