Zin Mar Aung, The Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the National Unity Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar

11:00-12:00 Friday, November 24, 2023
(The speech and Q & A will be in English.)

Myanmar's government in-exile
The democratically elected lawmakers ousted following the 2021 military coup in Myanmar have formed a National Unity Government (NUG) in exile. It includes representatives of the National League for Democracy (the deposed ruling party of former state counselor Aung San Suu Kyi), ethnic minority insurgent groups, and various minor parties. Entities such as the European Union have recognized the NUG as the legitimate government of the country.

Zin Mar Aung, the NUG's foreign minister, will speak at the FCCJ about the current situation of the movement for the democratization of Myanmar. It will be the first visit to Japan by a senior NUG official.
