Seeking the return of children

Those who followed the hunger strike of Vincent Fichot during the Olympics last year know that the Frenchman is far from being the only parent desperately seeking to be reunited with children kidnapped by a Japanese spouse. Jack Stone's tortuous legal journey is a story of desperation and bad faith on both sides of the Pacific.

Stone's two children were abducted despite warnings to the authorities that this was going to happen. Unlike some, he managed to locate them and take physical custody as he proceeded with legal moves to get them officially returned to his custody so they could go back to the United States. But Japan Central Authorities refused to issue a return order.

As a result, his children were kidnapped again and at this time are being hidden from him. Japanese authorities know where the children are located but refuse to turn over this information. Stone is seeking a court order on January 19 to have the children returned to his custody. Stone will come to the FCCJ following his legal proceedings.
