PRESS CONFERENCE

From Roma to Japan: Looking at the current health of international soccer

Tiago Pinto, Italian football team AS Roma general manager
Tammy Abraham & Cristian Volpato, AS Roma striker

15:00-16:00 Thursday, November 24, 2022
(The speech and Q & A will be in English.)

While the FIFA World Cup in Qatar is currently attracting most of the attention in the footballing world, there is still plenty of football going on elsewhere and one of Italy's top teams, Roma, is in Japan to play in the Euro Japan Cup.

While football is the world's leading sport and provides billions of people with great joy, it also has some major problems: fan trouble, corruption, breakaway leagues, racism and a World Cup mired in controversy.

To address all things football, the FCCJ will host three key figures from Roma: Tiago Pinto, Roma's Portuguese general manager; striker Tammy Abraham, who narrowly missed out on playing for England at the World Cup and who previously played for Chelsea; and young, Australian-born striker Cristian Volpato, dubbed the "new Francesco Totti".
