PRESS CONFERENCE
Yoshihiko Noda, President of the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan

10:00-11:00 Thursday, November 7, 2024
The speech and Q & A will be in Japanese with English interpretation

Japan's Chaotic Political Situation and the CDP

The October 27th Lower House election resulted in the ruling Liberal Democratic Party and Komeito losing their majority. The main opposition Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan picked up 50 seats, riding to victory on a tide of voter anger over the LDP slush fund scandal and its connections to the former Unification Church. The CDP now faces the task of convincing other opposition parties to vote for CDP president Yoshihiko Noda as prime minister when parliament convenes on Nov. 11th.

Join FCCJ as Noda explains the CDP's strategies in the days, weeks, and months ahead for dealing not only with the LDP and Komeito, but also with opposition parties whose ideologies and policies often sharply differ from those of the CDP.
