Urgent Special Photo Exhibition by Fatima Hassouna

To be displayed for one week from November 29th to December 5th, this photo exhibition will be held ahead of the release of the documentary ‘Put Your Soul On Your Hand And Walk’ about Fatima Hassouna, a young female photojournalist who took photographs in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, until she was killed in an Israeli airstrike.
Unable to leave Gaza, Fatima continued to report on the situation from the besieged region via her smartphone, capturing images of the city's residents who thrive despite the airstrikes, hunger, and anxiety.
In 2024, while Israeli attacks on Gaza continued, Iranian filmmaker Sepideh Farsi, living in exile in France and unable to return to her homeland, produced a film called ‘Put Your Soul On Your Hand And Walk’ based on regular video calls with Fatima Hassouna in northern Gaza. One year later, on April 15, 2025, Fatima was delighted to hear that the film in which she featured had been selected for screening at the Cannes Film Festival. However, the very next day, an Israeli airstrike killed 25-year-old Fatima and six members of her family. This seemingly targeted attack sent shockwaves around the world.

11月29日から12月5日までの1週間、パレスチナ・ガザ地区で最後まで写真を撮り続け、イスラエルの空爆で亡くなった若き女性フォトジャーナリスト、ファトマ・ハッスーナの 写真展を、彼女を主題としたドキュメンタリー映画の公開に先んじて緊急開催します。
ガザから出られないファトマは、空爆、饑餓や不安にさらされながらも力強く生きる市民の姿や、街の僅かな輝きを写真に収め、スマホ越しにガザの様子を伝え続けました。
イスラエルによるガザ攻撃が続いていた2024年、フランスに亡命しているため祖国に戻れないイラン出身の映画監督セピデ・ファルシは、ガザ北部に暮らす24歳のパレスチナ人フォトジャーナリスト、ファトマ・ハッスーナとのビデオ通話を中心とした映画を制作。1年後の2025年4月15日、本作のカンヌ映画祭での上映決定の知らせをファトマは喜んだ。だが、そのまさに翌日、イスラエル軍の空爆で25歳のファトマとその家族6人は亡くなられた。標的とされた攻撃とも思われる彼女の死が世界中に波紋を広げている。
備考: 本写真展では、今年度のオスカー賞トップ候補と言われるこの映画で取り上げられた写真も展示。
