PRESS CONFERENCE
How the Trump Administration Views Japan
Wiliam Chou, Hudson Institute
11:00-12:00 Tuesday, October 27, 2026
Language: The speech and Q & A will be in English.
The Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan is pleased to host a press conference by William Chou, a senior fellow and deputy-director of the Japan Chair at the Hudson Institute, who will speak about the U.S.-Japan relationship and how President Trump and his administration view Japan.
The Hudson Institute is a respected conservative think tank in Washington, D.C. that is probably best known in Japan for hosting former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who spoke there during visits to the U.S. It has been influential among Republicans including members of past Trump administrations.
At Hudson, Chou's research and policy proposals have focused on economic security, trade and investment, including Nippon Steel's recent acquisition of U.S. Steel. He also looks at automotive and mineral supply chains. His Ph.D. dissertation at Ohio State University examined Cold War-era commercial and diplomatic relations between Tokyo and Washington, and he is also a former champion on the TV program "Jeopardy!"
Chou has also expressed a desire to hear from correspondents about how Japan news is consumed overseas, including Washington. Please come to hear insights on the current U.S. policies about Japan from a leading observer of the current administration in the White House.
