Is China's economic slowdown as serious as many commentators outside of the country suggest it is, and are the problems in the Chinese property and financial sectors of a systemic nature? What does the slowing pace of China's exports and imports portend for Japan and the rest of Asia, and also for the wider world? In short, is the world's second largest economy (after the US) and principal economic dynamo set to enter a secular decline and stagflation.

These are critical questions as the world grapples with a host of other economic, political and geo-strategic problems that threaten to derail global growth and put the world on a path toward possible recession or even open conflict. Deep Dive has invited three prominent China experts to analyse and debate the true nature of China's slowdown and what Japan can do to limit the inevitable spillover effects from the changing situation. Do not miss the chance to hear what they have to say.

ALBERT PARK: who assumed the role of chief economist at the Manila-based ADB in December 2021, will address the FCCJ on these issues. He is a well-known expert on China's economy and has directed several large-scale research projects in the country. Park has more than two decades of experience as a development economist, having worked on a broad range of issues including poverty and inequality, intergenerational mobility, microfinance, migration and labor markets, the future of work, and foreign investment.
