It's Saturday Nite Live!
The Eiko Solaris Trio + Special Guest Toshiki on Trumpet
18:30 - 21:00, December 6, 2025
To celebrate the annual United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) three days earlier, SNL welcomes back vocalist Eiko Solaris and her trumpet- playing son Toshiki who has Down syndrome and a pacemaker. They will be joined on stage to perform jazz standards by compatriot pianist Yuji Henmi and Canadian bassist and composer Brent Nussey.
IDPD promotes the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities at every level of society and development to raise awareness in all aspects of political, social, economic and cultural life. FCCJ believes people with disabilities should participate fully, equally and effectively in society.
Eiko has sung for the Imperial Prince and Princess Akishino and was the first Japanese to sing at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo. She was a soloist at the Riyadh Chorus and sang at the UK and US embassies in Saudi Arabia where she lived for three years. In 2019, she released a third CD recorded in New York, as featured in the Yomiuri Shimbun and jazz magazines. Eiko also held a "Japan-U.S. Friendship: Miracle Door" charity concert in New York and performed at a charity concert for the UN Development Fund for Women at a lecture event hosted by the Minister for Gender Equality and Population Decline, and at the Australian Embassy.
Eiko wants many disabled people and their families to hear her songs to help them acquire the energy to cope, as she did when her son was born with Down syndrome. She currently sings at live houses, charity events and lectures about her experiences.
And remember SNL is free for FCCJ members! For guests & non-members, there is a 1,000 yen music charge, an incredible bargain for Tokyo entertainment. Please note the charge will apply to all guests and non members who are in the SNL venue at any time after the commencement of the first set.
