It's Saturday Nite Live!
Taku & Rei
18:30 - 21:00, June 13, 2026

Help us mark the official International Days of Environment (June 5), Oceans (June 8) and Rainforests (June 22) with Taku & Rei who are longtime FCCJ favorites due to his lush piano accompaniment and her sultry alto vocals with charming stage presence. Experienced jazz bassist Kenta Shiranui fills out the group.

Also known as Reichel, Hungarian-Japanese award-winning vocalist Rei Hamada started her musical journey early with Yamaha Electone lessons and choir singing, later embracing a professional music career. She studied under renowned jazz vocalist Maria Eva and her diverse repertoire spans jazz standards, film music, pop, Argentine tango and Chanson (French lyrics), of which her debut album will be released in July. Rei is  known for emotionally rich, expressive performances that resonate with audiences: https://rei-hamada.com/wp/

Pianist, music producer & arranger Taku Yasumi discovered his love for jazz piano while studying at the University of Minnesota, where he played with jazz greats such as Curtis Fuller and members of the legendary Woody Herman band. Two decades later, he met Reichel, marking the start of a fruitful musical partnership. Taku first played FCCJ’s Saturday Nite Live in 2014 and quickly became a regular favorite for his smooth touch and heartfelt performances: www.youtube.com/@yasumiclub5799
