It's Saturday Nite Live!
Canada Day with Beaver Fever!
18:30 - 21:00, July 4, 2026

Join us for Saturday Night Beaver Fever to celebrate Canada Day - the 159th anniversary of three territories becoming one great nation. The friendly Beaver Fever band make no apologies as they perform their SNL debut with a musical journey from snowy mountains to surf-swept beaches, and the distant past to the present with interpretations of famous popular, folk and roots-rock songs. We might even have some classic Canadian dishes on the menu.

Frontman Craig Chivers (piano & vocals) is a Canadian artist and musician living in Tokyo where he maintains his studio, Ebisu Atelier d'Art, teaching classical painting, drawing, sculpture and making his artwork. He first started playing professionally at the age of 14 in local bars in Norfolk, Ontario and at biker festivals. His artistic and musical journey has also taken him to Alberta, Toronto, New York City and Italy to perform in local bars, restaurants, festivals and gala events including the Canadian Ambassador's Residence and Osaka Expo 2025 for a VIP event at the Canadian Pavilion for the Government of British Columbia.

He is joined by percussionist Dean Thompson (drums), who spent years teaching drums and touring Australia as a professional musician. After collaborating with Josue Vilches and performing with The Consouls, he now performs in Tokyo with internationally renowned musicians.

And Danny Steward (bass) was session and touring bassist for Ayub Ogada, Jhelisa Anderson and Dido. Since 2003, he has focused on commercial music composition (Channel 4, Konami, Sega, BBC) and his export company, Bass Japan Direct, while being a demo artist for STR and Bacchus.

Sit back and enjoy some Canadian classics by artists such as Bachman Turner Overdrive (Takin' Care of Business); Brian Adams (Summer of '69); Leonard Cohen (Chelsea Hotel); Gordon Lightfoot (Alberta Bound); Neil Young (Heart of Gold) and Joni Mitchell (Big Yellow Taxi).

And remember SNL is free for FCCJ members! For guests & non-members, there is a 1,000 yen music charge, an incredible bargain for Tokyo entertainment. Please note the charge will apply to all guests and non members who are in the SNL venue at any time after the commencement of the first set.
