PRESS CONFERENCE

Families of Israeli hostages appeal to Japan
Amir Ohana, Speaker of the Israel Knesset  (parliamentary speaker)
Ilan Gilboa Dalal, Family of Israeli hostage
Gal Gilboa Dalal, Family of Israeli hostage

16:00-17:00 Thursday, August 28, 2025
Language: The speech and Q & A will be in English.

For 14 months, Israel waged war in Gaza. A temporary ceasefire began in January 2025 with a limited hostage release. After the ceasefire ended in March, Israel resumed its assaults declaring that the purpose was to secure the release of all hostages. Since then, Israeli attacks have killed more than 62,000 Palestinians and driven much of Gaza's population from their homes, deepening an already catastrophic humanitarian crisis.

Multinational discussions about a new 60-day-ceasefire proposal have recently intensified. Israel has demanded release of all 50 remaining hostages in Gaza, believing that only 20 are still alive. Separately, in the last 10 days, tens of thousands of Israelis held protests to urge a deal to end the fighting and free the remaining hostages in Gaza, while a campaign to capture and occupy all of Gaza City by the Israeli military has begun, with about 60,000 reservists now called up.

For more on developments in Gaza and the perspectives of the Israeli government and those with family directly involved, please join us for guests - Amir Ohana, Speaker of the Israeli Knesset, and Ilan and Gal Dalal, respectively father and brother of hostage Guy Dalal.
