Kentaro Kitagawa, who was arrested and indicted for raping the female prosecutor in his official residence when he was chief of the Osaka District Public Prosecutors Office, initially admitted the charges, but later reversed his position, saying the sexual encounter was consensual.
Then came a "secondary rape", when emails began circulating within the prosecutor's office in support of Kitagawa, claiming the female prosecutor had romantic feelings toward Kitagawa. She was not "unable to resist", although she was intoxicated.
The female prosecutor, who wishes to remain anonymous as she intends to continue working, says she no longer believes the Osaka District Public Prosecutors Office is capable of reckoning with the alleged crime committed by its former chief—and has decided to speak publicly. "Hikari" will be accompanied by her attorney, *Kota Anzai, and by the head of her support group, Momoko Nojo.
