PRESS CONFERENCE

16:00-17:00 Monday, January 19, 2026
Language: The speech and Q & A will be in Japanese with English interpretation.
The Foreign Correspondents Club of Japan is proud to host a press conference by Ryoyu Kobayashi, Olympic gold medalist ski jumper and member of the Japanese team going to next month's Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina.
Kobayashi is one of Japan’s sporting superstars. He won the gold medal in the normal hill event at the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, where he also took silver in the large hill. He has been the overall World Cup champion twice, in 2019 and 2022. He also won the prestigious Four Hills event three times, part of a career that he seen him claim victory in a total of 37 World Cup individual events. He currently holds the record for the third-longest official jump (252 meters) and the longest unofficial jump (291 meters).
Kobayashi is about to head to Italy for this year’s Winter Olympics, which will be held from February 6 to 22. He will once again be among the favorites to bring home more medals -- and perhaps a second gold.
Please join us to send him off and to hear him speak on his and Japan’s prospects at next month’s Games.
