Takakazu Uchiyama, Former Chairman/President, Fujitec Co Ltd
Kazuyoshi Kimura, Kenji Uenishi, & Hiroki Okimoto, Outside Director Candidate of Fujitec Co Ltd
Hiroyuki Kawai, Attorney at Law

June 2, Friday, 14:00-15:00 (Press Conference)
(The speech and Q & A will be in Japanese with English simultaneous interpretation.)

Shareholder activism is a hot topic in corporate Japan, and a milestone was reached this year when overseas fund Oasis Management won board seats of 75-year old elevator maker Fujitec Co and ousted its chairman and founding family scion Takakazu Uchiyama. A lawyer for Uchiyama declared it a foreign "hijacking" of a Japanese manufacturer.

Activists say these campaigns are necessary to safeguard shareholder rights and unlock corporate value, while traditionalists say they are often just an elevated form of blackmail. Uchiyama and his team are coming to the FCCJ to explain their side in the battle to control Fujitec, including a new management plan and an alternative slate of outside directors.
