PRESS CONFERENCE

Japan's role in Ukraine
Galyna Mykhailiuk and Oleh Seminskiy, Members of Parliament of Ukraine
11:00-12:00 Wednesday, March 19, 2025
Language: The speech and Q & A will be in English.

Amid a spell of frenzied diplomatic activity over a potential ceasefire in the Ukraine war, a group of the country's lawmakers will visit to Tokyo to thank the government here for its ongoing support.

To date, Japan has supported Ukraine through nonlethal equipment and mine removal activities, providing around 10.5 billion euros ($11.4 billion) in aid to Kyiv from 2022 through 2024. Tokyo has begun exploring support for peacekeeping and reconstruction in Ukraine following a potential ceasefire.

Galyna Mykhailiuk is a member of the standing delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the NATO parliamentary assembly, and co-head of the groups on interparliamentary relations with Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. Oleh Seminskiy is deputy co-chairman of the groups on inter-parliamentary relations with Switzerland and Japan.
