"Legal Professionals Call for an End to Japan's 'Hostage Justice"

A member of Junpo Law Office in Tokyo, Kaku Imamura has built a reputation for successfully defending clients. He has so far secured 15 acquittals, an unusually high number in Japan.

Imamura will come to the club to call on the international community to join efforts in Japan to change Japan's criminal justice system amid criticism of the prolonged detention of former Nissan chairman Carlos Ghosn.

The 56-year-old attorney has written several books on the criminal law, including "Enzai Bengoshi" (Junposha, 2008) and "Enzai to Saiban" (Kodansha, 2012). He was recently featured in an NHK documentary "Enzai Bengoshi".
