The Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan is proud to host a press conference by Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara, the gold medalists in pairs figure skating at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.
Miura and Kihara will be returning from a triumphant showing in Italy, where they clinched victory on the final night of the event with a world-record score. This helped the two-time world champions overcome an uncharacteristic slip on the previous night that had dropped them to fifth in the standings.
The pair won the gold with a performance set to music from the "Gladiator" films that featured a flawless triple loop and a move called a "triple toe-double axel-double." But the pair won the crowd when Kihara, who had been expressionless throughout the competition, dropped to his knees and hugged Miura on learning they had won the gold.
