Takashi Tachibana, chief of the Party To Protect Citizens From NHK (NHK Kara Kokumin Wo Mamoru To) is one of several candidates expected to take on incumbent Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike in gubernatorial elections on July 5 for the right to run the mega-metropolis of 14 million people.

A former employee of the public broadcaster, whose party's goal is to "destroy NHK" and is also known for his controversial remarks, had won a Diet seat in last year's Upper House election but soon gave it up to contest a by-election in Saitama in what was eventually a failed bid.

Tachibana, who last spoke at the FCCJ in August last year, will come to the Club to talk about his campaign pledges for the upcoming election.
