For years, comic Tonikaku Akarui Yasumura has been known in Japan for his hadaka gei (naked acts) gig, where he wears only a bathing suit while portraying a famous person posing naked or doing everyday things. The people he's mimicked so far include politicians, rock stars, royalty, James Bond and others. His recent audition as Tony on "Britain's Got Talent" drew more than 10 million hits on Youtube. The show's iconic producer, Simon Cowell, said he was the "funniest contestant we've had all year."
Please join us as FCCJ welcomes Tonikaku, as he speaks, seriously or otherwise, about the Japanese art of comedy, poking fun at oneself, and making it big overseas.
