Ahmed Al-Ghalban, from Beit Lahia in northern Gaza, lost both legs in an Israeli military attack on March 22, 'Voices from Gaza': Telling Japan Palestinian Stories

Ahmed Al-Ghalban lost both legs in an Israeli military attack in March that also killed his twin brother. Both had been learning circus arts and dreamed of becoming performers. Musician Ahmad Abu-Amsha has been forced to live in a refugee camp. Despite bombings and food shortages, he continues to teach music to children within the camp.

These are just two of the many Gaza residents whose stories are captured in "Voices from Gaza," a documentary shot over the course of one year by Mohammad Sawwaf and his production team. At a time when the Israeli government has forbid entry to independent media, Sawwaf's work sheds light on the suffering of ordinary people caught between a terrorist organization and a military behemoth determined to wipe them out at staggering human cost.

It is a story that has not been fully told in Japan. Sawwaf will be at FCCJ to show a short version of his film and talk about daily struggle in Gaza. He's accompanied by team member Ghada Abd Alfattah and Takashi Asai, the president of the Japanese film distribution company UPLINK. Please come to see documentary the film makers telling stories from Gaza that have not reached Japan.
