As talks drag on to end the war in Iran, Japan is growing increasingly concerned about its dwindling domestic stockpiles of oil and oil-based products. Before hostilities, Japan received over 90% of its oil supplies through the Strait of Hormuz, which remains cut off.
To discuss the crisis in the Middle East, the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan will host a press conference by three experts from the Abu Dhabi-based Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR). They will discuss the war’s implications on Japan, the rest of Asia, and global energy markets.
Experts are: Dr. Sultan Mohamed AlNuaimi, director general of ECSSR; Dr. Habib AlMulla, a legal scholar who is an expert contributor at ECSSR; and Nasser AlSheikh, an economist who is an expert contributor at ECSSR. The three will also offer insights into the United Arab Emirates, a nation that plays a significant role in Japan’s energy security and hosts the largest Japanese expat community and business presence in the Middle East.
Please join us for this unique opportunity to more deeply understand the ongoing energy crisis.
