(The speech and Q & A will be in English and Japanese with simultaneous interpretation.)

Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) investment is gaining global attention as corporations decarbonize their operations. Many companies and investors are supporting hydrogen, ammonia-coal co-firing and natural gas as transition technologies for electrical power generation. But these are not clean energy solutions as they result in substantial carbon dioxide emissions. In the run up to the International Group of Seven (G7) summit this month in Hiroshima, environmentalists are criticizing Japan's advocacy of the continued use of fossil fuels for power generation, urging instead more emphasis on countering climate change. These panelists will discuss how continued reliance on fossil fuels is affecting local communities throughout the region and the potential of renewable energy in Japan and Southeast Asia.
