"X Japan's Yoshiki - Rock Icon and Global Star"
Growing up, X Japan drummer Yoshiki no doubt wanted to be a rock star. He did that with ease – even before signing with a major record label – and has since become a global rock icon. Yoshiki is a drummer, pianist, composer, philanthropist and worldwide symbol of Japanese rock. In the last two years, the documentary "We Are X" has won critical acclaim with its blunt account of the X Japan story, which has seen enormous highs (a record 18 sellouts at the Tokyo Dome) and tragic lows (two members, Taiji and hide, died young).
Yoshiki was the first-ever artist to be honored with the "Asian Icon Award" at the Classic Rock Awards. He has also composed many pieces of music away from X Japan, including a piano concerto to celebrate the 10th year of the Emperor's reign and the official theme song for the 2012 Golden Globe Awards. His album "Yoshiki Classical" was co-produced by Beatles producer Sir George Martin.
Yoshiki will come to the FCCJ to reveal some important news, as well as to update us on X Japan's first studio album in 21 years, upcoming concerts in Chiba, and the progress of "We Are X" around the world.
