PRESS CONFERENCE

Countering the AI Threat of Child Abuse Images
Susie Hargreaves OBE, CEO of Internet Watch Foundation
Michael Tunks, Head of Policy and Public Affairs, Internet Watch Foundation
Katsuhiko Takeda, Executive Director, ChildFund Japan

13:00-14:00 Monday, April 8, 2024
Language: The speech and Q & A will be in English.

Hargreaves, Tunks and Takeda will discuss the issue, including a breakthrough in stemming the risk to child rights posed by the use of artificial intelligence to generate child abuse images in Japan.

The Internet Watch Foundation is a UK-based organization working to stop online depictions of child sexual abuse. ChildFund Japan is a local affiliate of a global agency that helps children and families overcome poverty and works to protect children's rights.

According to the Internet Watch Foundation, AI is increasingly being used around the world to create child sexual abuse images. This has made it even more difficult to protect children's rights. Research by the foundation has uncovered thousands of AI-generated child sexual abuse images on the dark web.
