New York native Jonathan Katz has performed in all manner of venues, from soba shops to concert halls, from the University of Rome and Canterbury Cathedral to the Blue Note New York and Carnegie Hall. He has lent his pianistic talents to the bands of world-class jazz musicians such as Ray Brown, Lew Tabackin, Tom Harrell, and Eddie Henderson. Jonathan is also the leader of the 19-piece Tokyo Big Band and can often be heard sensitively accompanying international singers at the iconic New York Bar in the Park Hyatt Hotel in Shinjuku.
TRIO ORGANIQUE was born from Jonathan’s desire to form a trio with a very organic sound and wide dynamic range. It is a meeting of empathetic musical minds as opposed to a band with a set repertoire. Listening to each other intently, the trio’s improvisations travel to interesting places on an adventurous musical journey.
