FCCJ Kawagoe Matsuri Tour - Sunday, October 15, 2017
The Special Projects Committee day tour to Kawagoe.

Kawagoe, a town in Saitama Prefecture to the north of Tokyo, is renowned for its traditional Edo period (1603-1867) atmosphere. Often called "Little Edo" the picturesque town every year in mid October stages the "Kawagoe Matsuri (Festival)", featuring majestic and colorful floats paraded along its historic Kurazukuri Street, to the sound of flutes and drums.

A special observation place is offered to FCCJ members by courtesy of Kawagoe City Mayor.

Those interested in attending should apply by phone to the front desk (03-3211-3161) or reserve online and register your name, nationality and media affiliation. Places will be strictly allocated on a first come first served basis. A registration fee of yen 2000 will be charged for cancellation after 6 p.m., Friday, September 29.

10:20 Assemble at the West Exit of Kawagoe Station
10:25 Leave Kawagoe Station by bus provided by Kawagoe City
10:45 Arrive Hatsukari Park Parking Space
10:50 Leave Hatsukari Park
11:00 Kawagoe City Office
11:15-12:15 Observe Float Parade
12:30-12:50 Courtesy Visit to the Mayor's Office
13:00-13:50 Lunch at Ryotei Yamaya
14:00-Free to stroll along Kurazukuri Street. Leave at will.

Note: We recommend you take the Yurakucho Line from Yurakucho Station at 9:14 and arrive Kawagoe Station at 10:18. Fare is 1,172 yen for round trip or 586 yen for single trip.
