Austrian Serenade with Fine Dining

Golden Week has drawn to a close, and we now are greatly looking forward to resuming some of the little indulgements we love to pamper ourselves with occasionally. Like the ever-popular dinner-concerts at the Foreign Correspondents' Club facing the Imperial Palace, with their delightful national themes and charming presentation.
People dearly want to be able again to get out and enjoy safe entertainments, culture, sports, and generally relieve the demands of the workplace and tensions of the pandemic.
But what about the lockdown, and its rumoured possible extension, which we may or may not hear about this weekend? Will we be safe to attend the dinner-concerts again and enjoy the clever concert, the corny jokes, and the cuisine of the country?
Yes, actually, yes. We, and our precious audience, are very, very fortunate indeed.
The government guidelines specify social distancing, masks, temperature verification, hand sanitisation, no food after eight, and no alcohol at all. We agree with all of that, and we do it all! That still allows us the occasion to enjoy a fine dinner and a splendid selection of music in a great location with great people.
Next week-end, the FCCJ chefs offer you the decided enticement of a delicious Austrian dinner. The musicians of the Sinfonia will relax you with our conductor's choice of delightful music by three of Austria's great composers - Franz Schubert, Franz Joseph Haydn, and Franz von Suppe. And you will find yourself chatting with wonderful people among the regulars at the tables.
Your reservations are requested at the latest by mid-week, please note, to enable the chefs to assemble the proper quantities of salad, steak, and chocolate cake, Vienna style.
The conductor and members of the Tokyo Sinfonia all look forward to seeing you again for another delightful evening of concert and cuisine. Great music brings great people together. "Music," said Leonard Bernstein, "should be shared." Especially now, it means a lot to all of us.
