Tokyo Sinfonia Stimulating Bohemian Serenade with Fine Dining

On Friday evening November 10, the FCCJ Food & Beverage Committee proudly presents another in the perennially popular series of FCCJ dinner-concerts in the of Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan’s Pen & Quill dining room.

The 71st dinner-concert programme in this long-running series features a menu of traditional Bohemian dishes and music of three of the most well-known composers of Bohemia.

Interspersed between mouth-watering courses of Bohemian cuisine from the FCCJ kitchen prepared by newly-appointed executive chef Otake and his staff, our Bohemian Serenade spices the evening with characteristic works of three of era's most prominent composers - a Bohemian garden appetiser, followed by Josef Suk’s "Scherzo Fantasticke" - Bohemian goulash, then Antonin Dvorak’s "The Noon Witch" - Bohemian kola cho, and Bedrich Smetana’s “Blanik."

The music too is served live, in person, and up close by the strings of the Tokyo Sinfonia under the Bohemian baton of Robert Ryker.

The dress code ranges from graciously casual to charmingly formal. Combining aspects of both a delightful dinner and a captivating concert, the hugely enjoyable series of entertaining evenings has won praise for its imaginative programming, inviting presentation, and friendly rapport with the audience.
