A Farewell Event for Robert Neff and Terry Anderson
6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 13, 2024

Dear Members,

We are planning a memorial event at the Club for our journalist
colleagues Robert C. Neff, a former FCCJ President who passed away in July this year, and Terry Anderson, a former FCCJ Regular member who passed away earlier this year in the US. Attached is a photo of them.

Bob Neff made history by identifying for the first time and publicizing the "revisionists," as he called them in a groundbreaking BusinessWeek article: the analysts who had examined Japanese history and industrial policy in the late 1980s and had explained how the world was seeing a new form of international economic competition.

Terry Anderson had moved on from the Tokyo AP bureau and was bureau chief in Beirut when he was kidnapped and held hostage for seven years by Islamic extremists. The club beat the drums for his release. When he finally got out, it was revealed that he had functioned as the practical and spiritual leader of his group of hostages.

The fee is 1,100yen (including a light meal, one drink and tax).
Non-members, including former members, can pay cash at the Front Desk for admission and at the event bar for extra drinks.

Please make your reservation as soon as possible at 03-3211-3161 so that staff can make appropriate preparations.

If you can't make it in person, here is a link for the event. Feel free to pass it on to anyone who would like to join the tribute remotely.
