Happy New Year to all at the FCCJ. Welcome to 2026, the YEAR OF THE HORSE, which is the seventh year in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese Zodiac. Those born in the Year of the Horse are said to be independent, enthusiastic, popular, spirited and quick to compliment others. As we struggle with rising tensions in the Far East and Western Europe, the war in Ukraine, America’s assault on its citizens and Constitution, and a weak yen, let’s hope that the horse’s attributes can steer us towards mutually agreeable solutions. In celebration of the Year of the Horse, this January will feature a artists including Hajime Anzai, Asakura Seikaiichi, Lou Beach, You Byun, Lorena Chavez, Kozo Chiba, Sohmie Endoh, Aiko Fukuda, Yoshimi Hirata, Yura Kono, Maihi, Keisuke Minohara, Satoshi Ohtera, Shigenari Onishi, Toshiki Sawada, Hiroshi Sunto, Rhonda Voo, Mimi Yokoo, Kanta Yokoyama, Misapple/Misa Nishimura, Nanami Nanasawa, and Shin/Shinnosuke Akimoto.

新年あけましておめでとうございます。2026年の干支は12年周期の7年目にあたる午年。
午年生まれの人は、独立心旺盛で、情熱的、人気者で、活発、他人を褒めるのが得意だと言われています。
この年に生まれた歴史上の人物には、ネルソン・マンデラ、レンブラント、トーマス・エジソン、ポール・マッカートニー、
ジミ・ヘンドリックス、バーブラ・ストライサンド、クリント・イーストウッド、ジャッキー・チェン、エマ・ワトソンなどがいます。
極東、西ヨーロッパの緊張の高まり、ウクライナ戦争、アメリカの国民と憲法への抑圧、そして日本では円安に苦しむ今、
馬の持つ特性が、双方が納得できる解決策へと導いてくれる事を願っています。
午年を記念して、今年1月も世界のアーティストから集まった作品が登場します。
