Shigeo Furukawa began learning guitar from the age of 13, and self-taught himself to play Chet Atkins style finger-picking. He traveled to New York in 2004 and met and studied with many popular guitarists. Later, Shigeo traveled to Australia where he graduated from the Melbourne Institute in 2014.
