Dear Membership:

We concluded the 2026-2027 Board election last night, and I would like to share the vote outcome, as well as the officers elected for the coming year:

A quorum was certified by the Secretary, and the Election Committee then reported that John Flanagan and Kai Hielscher were elected as Directors to complete the Board, with David Umeda selected as Reserve Director. I'd like to thank the Election Committee - Yoshisuke Iinuma (Chair), Hans Greimel, Suvendrini Kakuchi, and Miho Ouyou - for their diligent and extended work, as well as every candidate who participated.

The new Board of Directors immediately met to elect the officers, which resulted in the following line up:

President: Dan Sloan
First Vice President: Martin Fackler
Second Vice President: Chris Gilbert
Treasurer: Kai Hielscher
Secretary: Masayuki Watanabe

The Board is completed by Directors Harry Dempsey, John Flanagan, Peter Lyon, and Michiyo Nakamoto. In addition, there are two Reserve Directors: Avi Gokool (Regular) and David Umeda (Professional Associate).

The Directors’ execution of their duties will be monitored by the two Kanji: Anthony Rowley (Regular) and Simon Farrell (Professional Associate).

I will shortly contact individuals about possible Committee chair positions, and encourage everyone to join a committee as we need your enthusiasm.

The new Board looks forward to a great year ahead in building a stronger and more vibrant Club, and I'll have more details on what's coming in my August letter to the Membership.
