The Sumida Hokusai Museum plans an exhibition of the Ukiyoe's artists works at the British Museum of London and we will be given a preview.

In November 2016 Sumida City, Tokyo opened the SUMIDA HOKUSAI MUSEUM.

Sumida was part of the vibrant Edo Era downtown and is the birthplace of Katsushika Hokusai, highly acclaimed Ukiyoe artist throughout the world.
The Museum not only highlights Hokusai but is the hub for vitalizing the Sumida area through tourism and other endeavors both here and overseas. The Museum plans an exhibition of Hokusai's works at the British Museum of London and we will be given a preview.

Local gourmet foods will also be a feature of the evening including CHANKO NABE a favorite of Sumo wrestlers (Many historical Sumo stables are located in Sumida Ward.), award-winning Latham Curry from Spice Café a famous old restaurant in Sumida, with Hokusai's favorite Sakura Mochi and Yuzu tea for dessert.

Hokusai's famous masterpiece "Under the Wave of Kanagawa" from his Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji will be discussed and Adachi Print craftsmen will be on hand to give a demonstration with audience participation in the woodblock print process. Everyone receives a little gift to remember the talent of Hokusai.

墨田区では、2016年11月22日、世界的な芸術家として評価の高い葛飾北斎の生誕の地"すみだ"に、＜すみだ北斎美術館＞をオープンしました。この美術館では、展覧会や様々な普及活動事業を通して、郷土の偉大な芸術家である北斎の情報を国内外へ発信するとともに、観光や産業へも寄与する地域活性化の拠点として展開してまいります。
そしてFCCJにて北斎と「すみだ」の魅力を体感出来るイベント開催いたします。
山本墨田区長、すみだ北斎美術館菊田館長そして宮本亜門氏プレゼンテーション、版画専門「アダチ版画」の職人による北斎の名作『冨嶽三十六景　神奈川沖浪裏（仮）』の摺り実演と、当日参加者されている皆様から抽選により数名の方による版画体験会もおこないます。お食事も墨田区内の名店よりちゃんこ鍋、日本一のカレーに輝いた墨田区のラッサムカレー、北斎が愛した老舗の桜餅、そして柚子が好きだったという北斎をイメージして作られた「北斎茶」をご用意いたします。皆様のご参加お待ちしております。
