It's Saturday Nite Live!
Syia and Kanade
Intellectual and Emotional Piano Music
18:30 - 21:00, September 13, 2025
Syia began his solo career in junior high school and has since developed a unique artistic approach that fuses perspectives from neuroscience and mathematics to explore the essence of emotional experience in art. As founder of the artist collective The Hearth, an official musician for Marunouchi Street Park, and former chair of the Tokyo Six Universities Piano Federation, Syia is dedicated to bridging science, art and society through research and performance. He has appeared at La Folle Journée Tokyo in 2023 and 2025, and currently conducts research at Science Tokyo on the relationship between the brain and the arts.
For this special evening, Syia will be joined by pianist Kanade, a rising young artist from Nagano whose accomplishments include first prize at the 15th Beten Music Competition, soloist appearances with the Shizuoka University Orchestra, and performances with the Be Phil Orchestra at Suntory Hall under the auspices of the Berlin Philharmonic.
Together, they will present a program that is not only musical but also intellectual and emotional, inviting the audience to experience how music can open new pathways of perception, connection, and social imagination.
And remember SNL is free for FCCJ members! For guests & non-members, there is a 1,000 yen music charge, an incredible bargain for Tokyo entertainment. Please note the charge will apply to all guests and non members who are in the SNL venue at any time after the commencement of the first set.
