Photo Exhibition: The Ukraine The Media Does Not See
"20-50" Is This Our New Norm? Living With Drones?
Photos by Ko Sasaki
Exhibition: September 7 - October 2, 2026
A new ominous "20-50" term being used in Ukraine points to the 20–50 km combat range extending from Ukraine's frontline with Russia. In areas previously considered safe, drones are now striking with precision, causing explosions and fires on a daily basis. Yet, just one kilometer away from the latest explosion, people dine in restaurants as if nothing is happening. Even at a seaside spot set ablaze by a drone attack, beachgoers appear at daybreak unfazed by the latest attack.
The September photo exhibit features the works of Ko Sasaki, a photojournalist with over two decades of experience. Through his images, he documents how Ukrainian society has transformed after four and a half years of conflict, revisiting the country in the summer of 2026 - following his earlier project, "XEPCOH: Kherson - A Night of Falling Missiles."
