Shingo Kobayashi

Development Bank of Japan Inc.

Shingo Kobayashi began his career at the Development Bank of Japan Inc. (DBJ) in 1993. With 25 years in corporate finance and investment, and over eight years in human resources, he currently serves as Director and Senior Executive Officer, acting as Chief Investment Officer. In this capacity, he oversees corporate and fund investments and manages M&A advisory services for DBJ's clients.

He was instrumental in founding DBJ Investment Advisory Co., Ltd. (DBJ-IA) to strengthen the bank's investment business, serving as Managing Director and Board Member. Before this, he was part of the management team at General Enterprise Management Services Co., Ltd. (GEMS), a UK-based private equity firm in Hong Kong, focusing on investments in the Asia-Pacific region.

Previously, Shingo was Executive Officer and Head of Human Resources at DBJ, where he developed global management talent and led the creation of compensation and personnel systems. He also established strategic partnerships with the University of Oxford's Saïd Business School and IMD in Switzerland for custom programs for DBJ employees.

Outside of work, Shingo enjoys skiing, swimming, and golf. A lifelong piano enthusiast, he is a fan of Mitsuko Uchida, Hélène Grimaud, and Rudolf Buchbinder, and has recently resumed piano lessons after 30 years.

He holds a Bachelor of Law from Waseda University and a Master of Arts in International Relations from the Fletcher School at Tufts University.

I graduated from Meiji University in 1991, where I earned my law degree. I graduated from the Supreme Court Legal Training and Research Institute in 1995. Afterward, I began my legal career.
