Vince Chan

Calibr Group Corporation

Classically trained as a financial capitalist, I am a human capitalist at heart.

Born in colonial-era Hong Kong and fluent in English and Chinese, I learned early how to move between worlds. My life and outlook have been shaped by British and Canadian systems, Japanese and American ways of thinking, and the constant negotiation between cultures.

For more than two decades, I worked inside global financial systems as a central banker at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, a credit ratings analyst at S&P Global Ratings, and a multi-billion-dollar fund manager at TCW Asset Management. I operated across market cycles, financial crises, investment strategy, and cross-border capital flows, with a front-row seat to how money, power, institutions, markets, and human judgment interact.

That experience now informs my doctoral work in geopolitics and geoeconomics at Geneva Business School, where I focus on Japan's soft power, economic security, and tourism economy.

At the center of my work is a simple belief: politics is personal. I am not claiming the phrase as my own, but my life has shown me its truth. Geopolitics is not abstract. It shapes markets, jobs, cities, families, freedoms, and the choices people make every day.

That belief led me to found Five Seasons Foresights: to bring geopolitics into the mainstream in a way that is human, noise-free, and understandable. My aim is to help people make better decisions for themselves, their organizations, and the people they care about.

I hold two MBAs from Yale University and Chicago Booth, with a focus on finance and strategy. Earlier, at the University of Toronto, I studied accounting and economics before becoming a U.S. Certified Public Accountant and beginning my career in audit at Deloitte and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

I am also a CFA Charterholder, trained not only to read numbers at scale, but to see through them, uncover what they hide, and translate complexity into stories people can understand.

In 2024, I marked the 18th major turning point of my life and career by launching my first podcast show, Chief Change Officer. It has since become a Global Top 1% podcast and reached No. 1 in the US Careers category on Apple Podcasts. Through conversations with leaders, policymakers, academics, founders, and change-makers, the show explores change as something lived, not performed.

Beyond finance, I have long helped people turn ambition into direction and change into meaningful progress. I authored two Chinese-language books for emerging young leaders navigating career and ambition, including Becoming Your Own Angel Investor, which became a business bestseller on Amazon China.

That work expanded into coaching and education. I advised aspiring global leaders as a career coach to Schwarzman Scholars in Global Affairs at Tsinghua University's Schwarzman College, and served as an entrepreneur coach at the University of Chicago’s Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

Over time, this work brought me onto the global education technology stage as a voice on human capital, career development, and the future of learning. I have keynoted and hosted CEO and founder panels with leaders from Degreed, Udemy, VIPKid, and other education innovators at SXSW, Web Summit, RISE Conference, and more, reaching more than 100,000 investors and entrepreneurs across major global cities.

I was named one of Forbes China's Outstanding Overseas Returnees and selected as a 2025 EdTech Leadership Awards Finalist by EdTech Digest.

Beyond work, I am formally trained in wine through the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines, a devotee of Lego and tennis, and a reader who keeps returning to Timothy Snyder's On Tyranny and The Little Prince. One keeps me honest about systems. The other reminds me not to become one.

If your work touches power, markets, geopolitics, geoeconomics, or the future of being human, we probably have something worth talking about.
